Pay A Person: Send Money Quickly and Securely

Pay A Person: Send Money Quickly and Securely

Friday, April 11, 2025/Categories: Bank News, Digital Banking

At Community First Bank, we know that more and more people are turning to digital payments to pay each other easily without the hassle of cash or checks. Popular apps like Venmo and Cash App are great for convenience, but they aren’t always backed by the support you need when something goes wrong.

That’s why we offer Pay A Person – a fast, secure, and bank-supported way to send money to friends, family, or anyone you trust right from your online banking account. You get the same ease and convenience of paying someone electronically, with the added bonus of having our local team ready to help if you ever have questions or run into an issue.

Why Use Pay A Person?

  • Bank-Supported Security: Unlike popular P2P apps like Venmo or CashApp, Pay A Person is directly supported by Community First Bank. That means if you have any questions or run into issues, you can count on our friendly, local support – no waiting for email responses or dealing with outside companies.
  • Quick and Easy: Send money from your mobile device or through online banking.
  • One-Time or Recurring: Perfect for splitting bills, paying rent, or sending a gift.
  • Schedule Ahead: Set up payments for a future date so you never miss an important transfer.
  • Save Your Payees: Add a person once, and they’re saved for future payments.

How Does It Work?

Once you’re enrolled in online banking and Bill Pay, you’ll have unlimited access to send payments to businesses and individuals. With CFB’s “open network”, you can send payments to any other financial institution – no need to sign up for extra apps or open accounts elsewhere.

The person you’re sending money to just needs a valid bank account. This reduces your exposure to risk, as everything stays secure within Community First Bank’s encrypted online banking system. Plus, your transactions are private – no one can see who you’re paying or what you’re paying for.

Here’s how to get started:

  1. Log in to your online banking account.
  2. Go to Bill Pay (look for “$ Pay” on mobile or “Pay A Person” on desktop).
  3. Click on “Add Payee” (+) and enter:
    • The person’s name and phone number
    • Their email address
    • A shared keyword (you’ll give this to the recipient)

When you send the payment, the recipient will get an email asking them to:

  • Enter the keyword for validation
  • Add their routing and account number to receive the funds

Once they’re set up, you’ll get a confirmation, and sending money in the future is even easier – just choose their name from your list of saved payees.

When Will the Payment Go Through?

Most payments are processed on the same business day or the next, depending on when you send them. For example, payments sent after 5:00 p.m. on a Friday might not start processing until Monday (the next "business" day).
