2018 Letter to Customers

To our Customers, Neighbors, Friends and Communities,

Community First Bank is a community bank that is primarily owned by its employees, officers, and directors that reside in the communities we serve.  We are your neighbors, friends, customers and community members.  Our mission is “to partner with our customers and communities to successfully achieve their goals”.  We take this mission seriously and work hard to provide value in many ways. We accomplish this by partnering with farmers and businesses to guide them through the tough times as well as providing guidance for an expansion or purchase of equipment when things are good.  We also strive to provide value to you when purchasing a home, lessening the burden of college expenses and planning for retirement.  Our bank and team members are very involved in our communities and contribute their time, talent, and financial resources on a regular basis.  We are a community bank and our success is tied directly to your success.

As with most years, 2018 has been a good year for some and challenging for others.  The general economy has been strong with unemployment reaching record low numbers; however, this also meant businesses could not hire personnel to meet growing demand for their products and services.   On the other hand, we have seen another year of financial stress in the agricultural sector primarily driven by low commodity prices.  Our agricultural lenders have and continue to work with our customers to help them manage through this difficult cycle.  2018 was also a year where a number of our markets were devastated by severe flooding.   Our bank and team members moved quickly to help fill sandbags, donate money, and provide disaster recovery loans as well as a loan deferral program to help those affected by the flooding. 

In 2018, we provided additional ways to make banking more convenient for you, such as:

  • The addition of Mobile Deposit, allowing you to “tap & snap” to make deposits using your mobile device;
  • We enhanced our internet banking platform with a re-designed website and e-banking functionality such as a new “person to person” payment feature;
  • We expanded drive up hours to include Saturday morning at our Livingston office so that Saturday banking is available at all our locations; and
  • We opened a full service banking office and drive up facility in Fennimore inside the new Bender’s Foods facility.
